Charged by a moose toward the end of the run--geez, talk about scary. I seriously almost wet my pants. I crested a hill and there was a moose and her calf on the side of the trail, so I grabbed the dog's leash, moved off to the side and waited. They started to walk away. And then, without warning, the mother turned and charged right at us. My fierce dog booked for the woods and I flew behind a tree. The moose stopped so close I could feel its breath on my leg. Talk about a rush. Had to jog the last mile--my legs were shaking. The moose on that trail are usually laidback. We pass by them ALL the time and it's never a big deal. Someone must have startled them before us, or maybe a dog went after them earlier, who knows. Running can be dangerous I guess. |
