Short-Term Running Goals:

To post faster times in this summer's mountain races plus finish a half marathon at at the end of the summer. Would like to improve my Mt. Marathon time for next year plus run the Moab 33K in February.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I would love to do an ultra-distance race, 50 miles or even 110--oh, oh, oh!

Personal:

Single parent, live in Alaska, LOVE trail running, and the trails here are rough, baby. My dog is my best running companion, since she scares away the bears and moose.

Charged by a moose toward the end of the run--geez, talk about scary. I seriously almost wet my pants. I crested a hill and there was a moose and her calf on the side of the trail, so I grabbed the dog's leash, moved off to the side and waited. They started to walk away. And then, without warning, the mother turned and charged right at us. My fierce dog booked for the woods and I flew behind a tree. The moose stopped so close I could feel its breath on my leg. Talk about a rush. Had to jog the last mile--my legs were shaking. The moose on that trail are usually laidback. We pass by them ALL the time and it's never a big deal. Someone must have startled them before us, or maybe a dog went after them earlier, who knows. Running can be dangerous I guess.

Rolling hills, kind of boring run but that happens sometimes.
